Lighting Design

Landscape lighting design for Bellevue homes.

A landscape lighting design is the plan that keeps your installation from looking like a string of spotlights bolted on after the fact. We walk your Bellevue property at dusk, see exactly where light is missing and where glare would be a problem, and hand you a fixture-by-fixture plan before anyone digs a trench.

Most lighting companies skip this step and sell fixtures off a truck. We treat design as its own discipline, the same way an architect designs a house before a contractor frames it.

What's Included

A plan you can read before you commit to it.

Dusk site walk

We walk the property after sunset with you, so you see the same shadows and sightlines we're designing for.

Fixture-by-fixture layout

Placement, beam angle, and wattage for every fixture, plus wire runs and transformer sizing.

Layered light, not floodlights

Uplighting for trees and columns, downlighting for paths and steps, moonlighting through tree canopies for a natural wash.

Written, zone-based pricing

An estimate broken out by area of the property, so you can install everything at once or phase it over a few seasons.

Common Questions

Lighting design, answered.

The initial dusk consultation and concept walk-through are free. If you move forward with a full design, most Eastside homes fall between $400 and $900 for the design fee, which is credited toward your installation. Larger properties or multi-zone designs run higher.

Yes. We regularly work alongside landscape architects and contractors during construction, so wiring and transformer locations get planned before sod or hardscape goes in. This is the cheapest time to plan lighting, even if installation happens later.

A fixture-by-fixture layout with placement, beam angle, wattage, and wire runs; a transformer sizing calculation; a walkway and hardscape lighting plan where relevant; and a written estimate broken out by zone so you can phase the project if you want to.

From your dusk consultation to a finished plan is usually one to two weeks. Complex properties with multiple structures or water features can take a bit longer.

The plan is yours either way. Most homeowners have us install it, since we know the plan best and back it with our 5-year fixture warranty, but you're free to hire your own electrician.

What happens after the plan is done

Once you approve a design, it moves straight into low-voltage installation. If you'd rather see finished work first, browse our lighting design portfolio for real fixture counts and design notes from six Eastside projects. And once your system is installed, our maintenance plans keep it looking the way it did on day one.

We design and install across Kirkland, Bellevue, Redmond, Sammamish, Woodinville, and Mercer Island. Curious what a lighting plan actually costs? Read our landscape lighting cost guide for Bellevue.
